At Your Service: Start to Finish

Published: 04/08/2010 by Greg Williams

Are you planning a kitchen or bathroom renovation? Making improvements to your home should be a fun and exciting time, not one that is stressful. There’s no need to turn your life upside down while you are without two of the most important rooms in your home.

Just the ask clients of Dilworth’s Custom Design, Inc., many of whom have utilized the wide variety of the services that DCD has offered over the past 19 years.

Dave Dilworth and his design and sales team understand that the remodeling process can be a very stressful time for homeowners. There are critical decisions to make regarding design and decorating and, most importantly, in finding the right contractors.

“We build our own cabinetry, custom and specific to each project,” Dilworth says. “We offer a full turnkey service. Start to finish, our guys, employed by and insured by DCD, will complete your project. That’s what sets us uniquely apart.”

The Proof Is in Each Project
Recently, Dilworth completed a remodeling project that turned a dull, boring kitchen into a room of exquisite beauty. In a matter of three weeks, the white cabinets, appliances and uninspiring solid surface countertops were gone. Rich cherrywood, recessed lighting, stainless steel appliances and striking granite countertops filled the space.

During the first few days, Dilworth’s crews carefully removed all of the flooring, cabinetry and appliances from the area, as well as a wall that wasn’t needed. Then it was time to install the magnificent custom kitchen. Crews upgraded the plumbing and electrical, installed a porcelain glazed ceramic tile floor and custom cherry cabinetry. The rich cherrywood completely changed the ambiance of the room.

“Cherry is respected as the best of the best,” Dilworth says. “The luster of the grain of the wood is second to none. The stain we used added to the beauty of the wood and really brought out the grain.”

This particular project utilized two different styles of crown molding, which complemented the new cabinetry. Under-cabinet lighting and lighting inside the glass door cabinetry provided the perfect accent. A new island was also constructed in the center of the room, replacing the long L-shaped countertop. The homeowners wanted DCD to create an island that offered functionality, as well as visual appeal. One side of the island allows the homeowners to gather or dine in a casual setting, while the other side offers space for food preparation.

Overall, the homeowners were thrilled with the results. “The kitchen just has that elegance about it now,” Dilworth says. “Its character really stands out.”

Full-Service Means Simplicity
Typically, a project like this might take two to three months to complete. How did DCD complete it in only three weeks? The answer is simple: full service.

“We don’t want people to lose a room like this for a long period of time,” Dilworth adds. “The kitchen is one of the most important rooms in the house.”

By offering a full range of services, DCD was able to finish the project much faster. At the same time, the stress was taken out of the project.

In addition to kitchens and bathrooms, DCD can remodel any space in your home: entertainment rooms, laundry rooms, studies, living rooms with fireplaces or mantles.

Start at the Showroom
Dilworth’s Chester County showroom features eight kitchens and two bathrooms on display, along with hundreds of samples from the timeless classics to the hottest new trends: countertop options, wood samples (cabinetry and flooring) and porcelain glazed ceramic tiles.

Choosing complementary colors and materials is the key to starting a project off on the right foot. From the components of countertops and cabinetry comes the overall layout of the kitchen.

“We help customers from start to finish in completing the project,” Dilworth says. “With the majority of selections customers make, we are often able to display them right in our showroom.”

Reaping Referrals
Dilworth measures the success of each remodeling project on whether a client gives him a referral.

“That’s our goal with every project,” he says. “We ask the client at the end if we can put them on our referral list. People are excited that we care about their project enough to put them on our list.”
